Will Stop Working For Food!

Okay, I just wanted to post a quick, funny story from last night. We performed for Cherry Hills Community Church's youth ministry carnival yesterday and had a great time. Probably the first time that we played a concert surrounded by inflatable games and DID NOT go play against each other on them. I feel a little cheated...

But anyway, after tear-down (yep, we're the band that sticks around for tear-down as did "Justus" the opener band, way to go guys!), we helped Matt and John (the high school staff) put away the stage and push it down the quarter mile stretch from the youth ministry wing to the worship center wing. It was heavy and hard to push. Half the time, I think Iain was just leaning on the stage, rather than pushing.

But anyway, we had finally got it to a great momentum when all of a sudden, Matt jumps out and throws a handful of candy on to the stage pieces. Right then, we all stopped pushing the stage and dove for the candy. It was like sled dogs to the meat, ants to the dead bug, pigs to the mama pig. John, the intern, said he had never seen anything like that before. Matt didn't expect us to stop pushing the stage just to eat candy. He figured we'd keep pushing and have the candy AFTER we got the stage put away. Matt underestimated the power of the 3CW appetite.

It just goes to show you... you don't put edible things in front of Three Cord Wonder while we're working on something else. We know, we know, most rock bands look like a bunch of guys who haven't eaten in days. But look at the pictures of us... in fact, we were at Dave's Famous BBQ while we were in Manhattan and Ben confessed that he thinks he has that physical problem where your brain doesn't tell you that you're full and you just keep eating. Josh just nodded while he piled down some more fries and BBQ meat. Iain's metabolism causes his food to disintegrate upon hitting his mouth, and Adam and I, the smaller eaters of the group, can each plow through a whole pizza by ourselves and have room enough for chips and a couple of soft drinks.

In an age where the vast majority of male rockstars have girl pants, girl hair, and girl appetites, we're proud to be the band that sports baggy shorts, short hair, and "mountain-man" appetites. Don't get us wrong... we like girl pants, girl hair, and girl appetites... we just like them on girls!

Save some room at your table for us!

I'm just glad they aren't very big...

Don't forget to pray... Just like the Praying Mantis that tried to crawl up my leg and then proceeded to attack my phone while I leaned down to take a picture of it.

August's Big Denver, Colorado Show!

We've got a lot of great shows coming up in August and September. In fact, we start our busy schedule tomorrow and it continues through September 23. We're very excited about every show, but I want to point out one show in August that is of special sentimental significance to us and the one that all of you within a couple hours of Denver should try to get to if you could only choose one.

On Friday, August 31st, "The Garage" says goodbye and will be closing its doors. Lead promoter and MC, Jackson Marring, told us that he was sensing God leading him in other directions with his life and he wanted to do the last show with us. This is an especially big honor as we were one of the first artists he booked (maybe THE first) for "The Garage" during his tenure. So to be there for the beginning and to be there for the end is especially significant to us.

Kinda makes me feel old, too.

Anyway, show starts at 6pm and goes until 10:30pm or 11pm. We're headlining the show and we're playing a full set (hard to believe, I know). And it's only $5. We would really love to see you there. I know Jackson would love to see you there as well. Especially if any show at the Garage ever had a significant impact on you (whether we played it or not), I really think you should go out and show your support. (Go to The Garage's MySpace page for more info).

Besides... there is that whole "other guitarist" thing going on with us... and last I checked, we really haven't said much about that and probably won't until that show.

Demand Three Cord Wonder

Okay, okay, so I promise we'll start having some non-promotional-type stuff on this blog soon enough. In the meantime, do us a favor and go "Demand" us. Yep, we could use some idea of where all of you are... I mean, we know where you are... you're all over (the USA and the world)... but we could use some specific ideas of WHERE EXACTLY you are and "Demandit" helps us figure that out. Seriously. It's free, it's quick, it's really easy. So do it... and maybe on the next tour, we'll be coming near you!

Do it! Do it now!

Three Cord Wonder's New Blog

Right! So we have a new blog. And pretty soon, it will have some entries. I'm pretty jazzed about it. We'll be able to post regular posts, email posts, pictures from our cameras and mobile phones, video from our cameras and mobile phones... it's crazy! It's an exciting time to be alive with this kind of technology.

So, other than the obvious plethora of technological posts, what kind of entries can you expect here? Well, comparatively speaking, while you'll read little bits of news on the UPDATES section at ThreeCordWonderDOTcom, the blog is going to be a combination of news, opinion, and journal. We'll post photos and video from shows (that is, if we remember to take them), share cool stories from the road, personal experiences, and (best of all) talk about our faith.

And we definitely want your thoughts, response, and stories, too. So feel free to comment on anything you read here.

Alright, back to work finishing up everything and then we'll start posting more regularly here. Have a great day!
